International Health Certificates
Pet Health Certificates for Travel
Traveling with your pet can be fun and exciting, but it entails advanced planning and often paperwork. We are proud to partner with Pawsitive Pet Health Certificates to help you plan your international pet travel. PPHC will
- research the entry requirements set by the destination country, as well as the USA re-entry requirements,
- review your pet’s medical records to determine what requirements they do and do not yet meet,
- determine associated costs for importation applications and fees, certification, and USDA endorsement,
- establish a timeline based on your estimated departure date,
- and coordinate with our USDA-accredited veterinarian to schedule necessary testing, treatment, and examination to satisfy all government requirements.
Be sure to ask your airline or cruise line if they have any additional requirements.

Regarding Pet Travel To/From Mexico and Canada
As of August 2025, traveling to Canada with a dog or cat requires only proof of rabies vaccination. Dogs and cats traveling to Mexico will be physically inspected upon arrival for lesions and parasites. We also strongly recommend traveling with a copy of your pet’s rabies vaccination certificate. These requirements can change at any time; please check the USDA APHIS Pet Travel website listed above for current information.
Dogs returning from Canada must have an ISO-compliant microchip and be accompanied by their rabies vaccination certificate and the receipt from completing the CDC Dog Import Form (https://www.cdc.gov/importation/dogs/rabies-free-low-risk-countries.html). Dogs returning from Mexico must meet these same requirements, and additionally must have been inspected for
screwworm by a government-trained and -authorized veterinarian within 5 days of entering the USA. A list of qualified veterinarians is provided here: https://www.gob.mx/senasica/documentos/directorio-de-mvra-en-clinicas-y-hospitales-veterinarios?state=published
